Project 4 - Self Titled.
Week 10
This week first we were given a lecture on Digital Photography. First, Mr Fauzi Talked about the exposure settings which is basically the amount of light with reaches your sensor or film. This includes Aperture, Shutter speed and the IS. Aperture is the flow of light entering the lens. Shutter allows the light into the film or prevent the light from entering the film. Shutter Speed is measured in seconds. ISO is referred to the sensitivity of film. It's "light gathering" ability. For digital photography, ISO refers to the sensitivity the signal gain of the camera's sensor.
After the exposure settings he talked about lens perspective. Different lenses are designed for different for different purposes. Lenses can be categorised by focal length. Focal length is the measurement from the optical center of a camera lens to the camera’s sensor.
Lastly the comparison between DSLR and smartphones. DSLR cameras are designed to capture images. Phones are designed to carry out a multitude of functions. With phone cameras the size of the lens and the size of the sensor that captures the photos are small. Entry-level DSLR have much larger lenses and sensors than mobile phones do.
After the lecture, we were given a briefing about our project 4. This project is called, Self Titled. We have to create a composition that is based on ourselves and then animate it using After Effects.
For Week 10, our goal is Idea development, where we have to write a short biography about ourselves as well as provide a statement about our work for this project. And lastly, bu gathering all the information and creating a mood board which consists of 3 posters.

Week 11
On this week we have to make sketches for the poster, and digitise the poster idea.

Next I started my process of digitising the poster, though things didn't turn out exactly like the poster. I wanted to make it look very colourful and bright

After Mr. Fauzi's feedback, that i should choose poster 3 (figure 1.9), I kind of went with it but at the same time I really wanted to include the sun from the other posters, I think it kind of brings all together.
Week 12
Our goal for this week is to finalise the poster and get a head start on the animation process. I started this process by changing out the colours of the poster a bit first by applying my idea to use the sun from the other posters in the poster Mr. Fauzi thought looked the best, though eventually it evolved a bit more as I want too happy with the way that the dessert looked, so I chose another one, as well as changing the background gradient of the poster.

My work includes photography and surrealism. I also really like the use of black and white pictures along with other colourful elements. The concept behind my work is how I see myself or how I am feeling. This also represents me exploring myself and my identity, finding out what I am truly passionate about and following my instincts. With this in hopes that I am able to achieve how others see me as I see myself at my best. I want people to allow themselves to explore their passions. To take a step back and to understand if you are fully satisfied with how your life is going. I also added surrealism to my wok which represents the fact that I don't take myself too seriously, though it is also good to be realistic. My quote for this work is, “you have to start somewhere”.
Week 13
Our goral for week 13 is to Animate out composition in After Effects then upload it to Youtube.
On this last week, we have to bring some final changes to our composition and animation, then submit the assignment. I made some changes to my composition after listening to the feedback given by Mr. Fauzi.

I am satisfied with the way this Project turned out, I feel like i learned a-lot of things and gained new skill while working on this project. I am also very glad that I got to do some work regarding surrealism, because I love seeing surrealist artworks, and I felt that this Project was the perfect opportunity to work on that.
Other than this i would say over all doing this module has taught me a-lot, especially considering that this is my first time going digital art. This module has helped me the most with learning the basics of photoshop and After Effects. Other than this, I have learned the basics of composition making, which is very important in design. Though I would say that there is definitely room for improvement. It is always important to observe everything that is shown during the lecture or tutorial, because the smallest step you miss can affect your work. I found that in this module, I perform my very best because of all the tutorials that are provided to us. I have come a very long way since Week 1, and I am really proud of the work that I have produced. It was an honour learning everything I did from Mr. Fuzi. He taught us how things work on an industrial level. Because he bases his lessons off of real world examples in the most organised steps, it helped us get the grasp of things much easier. I would say that Overall my experience with this module has been very positive.
