LECTURES

Week 6 - Screen & Print
This week's lecture was on different mediums in typography.  Before, typography was only viewed on paper.  Good typeface for print includes, Caslon, Garamond and Baskerville. These are elegant but also highly readable when set at small font.  Today a popular medium  for typography includes, screen. The type used on screens are often modified to enhance readability and its performance on screen. Our experience with typography changes, based on how the page is rendered, because typesetting happens in the browser. Hyperlinks, found nearly in all web pages, jumps to a new document or new section with in the document, They are normally blue and underlined by default. If you were to read at arm's length from a screen, you'd want at least 12 points. Each device comes with its own pre installed font selection.
Web safe ones however, appear across all operating systems. They are a small collection of fonts that overlap from windows, to mac to google. There will be a lot of variation even within a single device class when it comes to pixel. Lastly we talk about static and motion. Static type have minimal characteristic in expressing words, whereas, motion type are more expressive and helps to establish a tone that is associated within the content.

FEEDBACK

Week 6
Specific feedback: I asked Mr. Vinod about the line spacing for the exercise, because I had some concerns about that when I added 3 columns for my design layout. He said that it is not required to put 3 columns but that they will not dismiss it.

General feedback: Our lecturers went through our e-portfolios and gave some feedback as some made some mistakes with the labelling of subheadings and making sure that the PDF files are visible to everyone.

Week 7
Specific Feedback: No specific feedback.

General Feedback: Our lecturers gave us feedback on our task 2. explained to us how we went wrong and encouraged us to make improvements. Also asked us to properly go through our lectures to start our next task and do research before sketching.

REFLECTION

Experience
We got a little briefing about this project of week 5, though i didn't make the sketches that would've helped me alot and saved me more time this week, if I had gone through the MIB beforehand.

Observations
I observed what Mr. Vinod did in the practical youtube recordings, It was very specific and to the point which made it easy for me to understand the work that I was doing.

Findings
Even though I watched the lecture recordings and summarized them, I don't particularly remember which is which, though i have found that, The more exercises that we do, and the fact that i am learning more about the adobe applications and how to use them, I am learning what was explained in the recordings much easily.
