Type Design and Communication
Week 11
In this project we have to select a holiday and design a sticker for that using the given 10 type faces. In this sticker we also need to include the Taylor's university watermark. For week 11 we had to have our sketches ready. As well as starting to digitise our desired design.

Originally my idea had bold borders to it, though later I made some changes while still implementing the idea.
My next step was to start digitizing the design. This step took a lot of trial and error though eventually I stuck with a design that I liked. I tested my design using a few typefaces as well.

At this point I began the colour process.

Week 12
This week started off with some feedback from Mr Vinod. The goal for this week was to be finished with the whole task. This meant, finalising the design, colour, and making sure that the sticker is functional on Telegram.
I began by bringing some minor changes to the design and colour of the design that was chosen. Again, this took some trial and error. My main problem was that I used colours that were too dull, so it did not look as attractive.

After a few more tries swatching colours, I finally found a combination that I really liked that made the overall design pop.
And finally I tested the sticker on Telegram.

FEEDBACK

Week 11
Specific feedback: Mr Vinod mentioned that he wasn't moved by my design.

General feedback: To finish the final design along with colouring for the coming week.

Week 12
Specific feedback: Mr Vinod told me that the design Figure 1.9 showed the most potential and therefor I may follow up on that by changing the colours to something more vibrant and attractive looking,

General Feedback: Everyone should be done with the sticker as well as updating the E- portfolio before Week 13 class.

REFLECTION

Experience
My experience while doing this task was a-lot of trial and error, since this was the first task that we are using colours in this whole module, I found that quite challenging. I I was unsure whether or not to be bold. Especially working with typography, you have to be sensitive of the type of graphical elements you put into it, because you want the type and how it's designed to be the main thing, and not over power it with the other elements in my design.

Observations
While designing the layout of how I would place the letters, I noticed that even the slightest odd space between the letters look really obvious. Moreover while adding the colours in the design, I noticed even the little bit of highlight or shadow brought out the letters and made them look more obvious and visible.

Findings
I found that, in addition to what it is that is taught to us in class, it is also very helpful if I follow tutorials, on how to create different kinds of design, This helped me kind of memorise most of the tools I use now, constantly in Adobe illustrator.

When a company is developing its brand identity, the type of font they choose should be consistent because "typography represents the tone and values of your brand just like colour represents a feeling or visually represents a message for your customers," according to this article about brand typography.
Furthermore, never underestimate the power of typography, as it has the potential to make or break their brand by conveying the wrong image. When building their brand identity, typography is extremely vital to consider.
