Project 3

Week 6
On week 6, we worked mainly on developing the idea process. Since our chosen idea was to create phone cases, we took what we learned from the data gathering and tried to make designs. We were still a bit confused and we found that over all, with how we were going to make the designs look uniform.

Week 7
After we showed Mr Vinod the sketches, he found that we didn't have a clear sense of direction, so he advised us to find some lyrics and/ quotes that represented the rebellious nature of the culture and find images that match well with the text.

My designs:

After the review our supervisor still thought that some of the texts we had chosen did not exert any kind of movement. Our group did review back again on the designs. The printing process was a little more challenging too because, we were originally going to do full print covers, but we couldn't find any places that could fit the printing process within our time frame, so we decided to buy phone covers and print the design on sticker paper and paste on them.

FEEDBACK

Week 6
General Feedback:
Share visual progress next week.

Specific Feedback:
Determine the best medium to communicate the message (Digital / Physical). Think like fine artists when creating the output.

Week 7
General Feedback:
Finish the blogs  by this week Friday.

Specific Feedback:
Make sure to relate the craft to the rebellious nature of the culture. Find text that relates to the rebellious nature and  images that match the text then work on the crafting.

Experience
Our group faced a few challenges along the way with the direction of the design. We weren't sure if we should stick with a mixture of illustrative, typographic and photographic designs, but eventually we got some direction from Mr Vinod that we could use typography with text or quotes that well represented the culture. I still think that the final outcome that we produced had more potential.

Observation
The majority of the observation for this project was focused on obtaining the correct type of visuals or illustrations to go with the quotes or lyrics we had chosen. We had a hard time locating the correct ones. I believe we had chosen a handful towards the end, but it turned out that they did not produce an appropriate meaning that prompted action. By the end, we had replaced a few of them.

Findings
I found this project to be a bit of a challenge because it was hard to manage everyones ideas together and find a middle point and find the right flow of designs that had consistency. Overall, I did enjoy this module because i learned a lot about the culture.
