Advanced Interactive Design - Project 2

 Project 2: Interactive AR Application

For this project, we have to create an AR filter that is based on the phone application we made for Project 1. The first step of the process was to come up with different ideas for the AR filter. During my consultation, I realised that I could do a "which movie should I watch" randomiser filter, so that is the direction I went with. Originally the idea was to create a background for the filter as well, but since I am not that familiar with the app, I stuck with something that is much simpler, but still had the interaction.

I chose 3 movies to put in the filter, which is
1. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
2. Everything Everywhere All at Once
3. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Then i created illustrations based off of these movies.

Figure 1.3 - Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

Originally I was going to use these illustrations on the background, but I didn't quite understand how to make a proper layout along with the randomiser, so I stuck with keeping the artworks within the box of the animation sequence of the filter.

After this I followed a tutorial on how to import all the files and in what order, then after following those steps, it was time for me to start working on the patch editor.

The way that the patch editor is set is the start frame (which movie should i watch) frame is already there before the animation sequence starts. On screen tap the filter will start its animation sequence. and it is set to stop at 4 seconds. once the randomiser picks the movie you should watch. You can reset the filter by tapping the screen, and then tap again to start the animation all over again.

You can see how the filter works in the recorded video when I used the filter test link.

Reflection:
I think that the over all filter works well but I think there is still room for much improvement, as I think that the filter ended up looking a lot more simple than I thought it would.
