Project 1 - Promotional Packaging

For this project we are required to design a new happy meal box together with its fun fries packaging. The new design should include an educational information within the design. We need to propose an idea which will carry the message to its target audience.

The Idea:
To create a happy meal packaging based on the theme - Save the Bees

Pollination, particularly by bees, is essential for the vast majority of plants that provide us with food, including those that produce apples, squash, and vanilla. A significant portion of Europe's wildflowers are pollinated by bees, thus without them, our countryside would be much less interesting and appealing. However, bees are in trouble. Public and political concern over the global bee decrease is growing. A number of factors, including the destruction of habitat and food sources, exposure to pesticides, and the consequences of climate change, all contribute to this reduction. More than ever before, we need to recognise the importance of bees to nature and to our lives. And we need to turn that into action to ensure they don't just survive but thrive.

The design of the packaging will include illustrations of bees along with flowers that are important for the survival of bees. Moreover, include educational information of why bees are important to the eco-system that will be laid out on the design of the activity (maze) which will be in this case the "toy" that is needed in the Happy Meal.

Important note: to not let the design og the theme get too overwhelming that it takes over the identity of the brand in the packaging

Die cut:
The first step was to study the original packaging

Illustrations:
This colour scheme simulates what a child might find more appealing, increasing their interest in the packaging.

As well as the illustration style itself is more child-like than mature, which will help them understand the cause better.

Reflection:
This was a very enjoyable project to work on. I was able to learn a-lot while doing the project as well. The most challenging part for me was getting the measurements right and also to cut and paste the packaging together after printing. Overall, I think that I was able to effectively educate the purpose and the theme of "Save the Bees" in this project
